Explanation
Caddy is nudging you to remember that life isn’t just a to-do list. Work matters, but so does laughter, play, and small pleasures that make days feel alive. Think about joking with a coworker, dancing while you cook, playing with your dog, or saying yes to a spontaneous coffee. Those moments recharge you and make the grind worthwhile. Treat fun as essential, not optional, and you’ll show up fresher and more present for everything else. It’s less about escaping responsibility and more about weaving joy into the routine so life actually feels enjoyed.
About the Author
Eileen Caddy (1917–2006) was a British spiritual teacher and author who co‑founded the Findhorn Foundation in northern Scotland in the early 1960s. At Findhorn she helped build an internationally influential ecological and spiritual community famed for its inspired gardening and experiments in cooperative, heart centered living. Caddy wrote many books and daily meditations based on the inner guidance she described hearing, and she’s most remembered for practical, joy filled teachings about prayer, creativity and simple living. The quote reflects her core belief that a true spiritual life includes ordinary pleasures work balanced with play because joy fuels creativity, community and connection with the divine.
