"Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can."

This quote is basically a morning reset button. The Dalai Lama is saying: when you open your eyes, remember that just being here is a gift, and you get to choose what to do with it. Instead of stumbling into the day on autopilot, decide, “I’m not going to waste this. I’m going to grow, be kind, and try to help where I can.” In everyday life, that might look like pausing before snapping at someone, actually listening in a conversation, or choosing patience in traffic instead of rage. It’s not about being perfect or saintly. It’s about small, intentional choices that turn an ordinary day into a meaningful one; for you and for the people whose lives quietly intersect with yours.
