"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."

Explanation

This quote is a reminder that big, beautiful things in life don’t start with perfect plans or ideal circumstances; they start with a person who dares to imagine something better. “A dreamer” isn’t some special type of person; it’s you, sitting at your desk wishing for a career change, or staying up late thinking about a project, a move, or a cause you care about. Tubman is saying you’re not missing anything you need. Strength for the hard days, patience for the slow progress, and passion to keep going when no one’s clapping, you already have those inside you. Reaching for the stars doesn’t have to mean changing the whole world at once; it can mean changing your corner of it, step by step, without giving up on the dream that keeps tugging at you.

About the Author

Harriet Tubman (c. 1822–1913) was born into slavery in Maryland and escaped to freedom in 1849, then courageously returned to the South about 13 times to lead some 70 enslaved people to freedom via the Underground Railroad. During the Civil War, she served the Union as a nurse, scout, and spy, even helping to lead the Combahee River Raid that freed more than 700 enslaved people in a single night. After the war, she became an outspoken advocate for women’s suffrage and a caretaker for formerly enslaved people and the elderly in her Auburn, New York community. Her quote about the power of a “dreamer” reflects a life in which courage, faith, and relentless determination turned what seemed impossible; freedom and social change, into reality.
